Visiting Milkyway

During my most recent visit (March 2026), I had the pleasure of visiting a small rope bar in Tokyo called Milkyway. I am often asked about places to visit in Tokyo by foreign visitors and I am happy to recommend adding a trip to Milkyway to your itinerary!

Monday nights are special events that feature socializing, a quick hands-on class, a performance by the host Toronawa, and plenty of time to play and tie after the show. They also offer free drinks, though tying after consuming any alcohol is strictly prohibited.

Monday night’s kinbaku salons are listed here: https://toronawa.com/pages/event

Toronawa’s rope shows are a great mix of rope and more classic SM show elements (impact play, wax, SM) and often will feature his signature UV rope!

Milkyway is a very active rope space and you can find all their events listed here: Schedule. Some of the other weekly events will require you to be able to understand Japanese to get the most out of it, but like most rope spaces, you will still be welcome and often there are people around who may be able to help with translation. The space is LGBTQIA+ friendly.

You can find more at their website: https://milkyway2002.com/ (Japanese)
Or at Toronawa’s website: https://toronawa.com/ (English)

I had a great time and found everyone to be very friendly and welcoming. If you are new to rope, especially, you will find it a great experience and it will give you a chance to learn something new and see a show. The space is small and events sell out quickly, so a RSVP is highly recommended. However, as with most Japanese events, an RSVP is considered a solid commitment, so being a no-show may result in not being able to attend future events.
