Summary

The September 1974 issue of Kitan Club, Volume 28, Number 9, serial number 319, opens with an unusually extensive photographic presentation before the regular numbered pages begin. The front section includes the photographic series Hamana Lakeside Night, photographed by Tsukamoto Tetsuzō, with named models and individual captions devoted to rope bondage, suspension, leg positions, gags, candles, crotch binding, humiliation, and the visual qualities of the restrained body. This is followed by a color photo section presenting eleven bondage poses across PDF pages 19–26. These opening portfolios are substantive editorial material and form an important part of the issue rather than merely decorative front matter.

Regular printed pagination begins with printed page 29 on PDF page 27. A short profile, Portrait of a Cute M-Woman, introduces the main textual portion, followed by Tsukamoto Tetsuzō’s much longer Hamana Lakeside Night: A Camera-and-Pen SM Report Investigating the Mystery of Yajima Yasuko’s Masochism. This illustrated report follows Yajima Yasuko through meetings, travel, conversation, and extended bondage sessions, using her reactions and self-presentation to examine the meaning of female masochistic identity. The distinction between documentation and staged erotic performance remains deliberately porous throughout the feature.

The issue then moves through several forms of fiction, correspondence, and participant testimony. Murata Kyōko contributes a Mania Communications update. The seventh M Group work, The Female Captive, is an extended imprisonment and bondage fantasy. Kinosaki Kyōsuke’s Rose Slave on a Hazy Moonlit Night continues the fictional sequence, while Record of Lending Out My Wife shifts into first-person sexual reportage concerning marital experimentation and a third participant. Oka Takashi’s recurring Image Gallery illustrations appear between and within these longer works, including Feet Are for Lips, Siamese Cat and Woman, The Queen’s Anger, and From the Kumosuke Diary.

Marijuana Party, installment 58 of the M-faction social chronicle, portrays the social world of SM enthusiasts through drinking, marijuana, erotic games, jealousy, sexual experimentation, and changing interpersonal roles. It is followed by the serialized novel Great Eruption and the period SM novel The Gate of Purple Orchids. These fictional works extend the issue’s central themes of captivity, domination, humiliation, punishment, and eroticized power into contemporary fantasy and historical melodrama.

The later portion of the surviving PDF returns strongly to confessional and experiential writing. Miki Reiko’s Recommending Anal Drinking describes alcohol administered by enema. Takamura Hiroko’s I Ate the Forbidden Fruit is explicitly presented as an M-Woman Communications confession and combines autobiographical reflection with documentary-style bondage photographs. The prize-winning Confessions of Mr. S and Mr. M ranges more broadly across sadomasochistic identity, heterosexuality and homosexuality, voyeurism, public and private sexual spaces, marital relationships, toilets as erotic environments, and the relationship between fantasy and lived experience.

PDF page 152 begins Takano Harumi’s The Appeal of Pregnant Nudes, framed as a confession by a pregnancy enthusiast. The feature discusses the erotic appeal of pregnancy, bodily transformation, pregnant nude photography, and the restraint of pregnant models, accompanied by photographs of women in advanced pregnancy, several in rope bondage. This feature continues through PDF page 163, corresponding to printed pages 154–165.

The final surviving feature, PDF pages 164–173, is Kitagawa Mariko’s Fantasies of the Slave Wife Mariko, written in response to a present from Suzaka Akira. Combining personal fantasy, correspondence, sexual observation, and illustrations, it explores the author’s imagined position as a submissive or enslaved wife and her fascination with bondage, exposure, and scenes involving multiple participants. The attached PDF ends on printed page 175, in the middle of the issue as described by its formal contents page. The contents advertises additional material beginning on printed pages 176, 200, and 260, but none of those pages is present in this 173-page PDF.
