Beautiful Bondage
Beautiful Bondage is a limited-edition photographic album devoted entirely to images of bound women. Across sixteen mounted black-and-white photographs, the volume presents a varied repertoire of early postwar Japanese bondage, including seated and reclining restraint, blindfolds and gags, body wrapping, suspension, and ties emphasizing the torso and limbs. The album is a valuable visual document of the developing aesthetic vocabulary of Japanese bondage in the early 1950s and of Minomura Kou’s role in organizing and presenting bondage as a distinct photographic subject.
Research notes
The colophon describes the work as an album consisting entirely of bound women and identifies the title as 美しき縛しめ. It credits Minomura Kou (美濃村晃) with composition and Tsukamoto Tetsuzō (塚本鉄三) with photography, and states that it was issued on June 1, Shōwa 28 (1953). It is marked as a limited edition of 500 copies, distributed to members and not for sale. The supplied scan contains sixteen photographic plates followed by the colophon. Creator credit is assigned to Minomura Kou because the colophon identifies him with 構成 (composition); the photographer is documented here in notes because the current Book Archive schema has no separate photography-credit field.
