We are delighted to present the work of Petite Pretzel and BoundBoar, brilliantly captured by Adam Robert Moon. Not only does it capture the spirit of shibari, it also provides a beautiful demonstration of the fact that rope is for everybody and every body.[KT]

From the photographer:

An incredible experience to shoot two talented individuals in a unique location. I was contacted by Belfast Kinbaku Dojo as Petite Pretzel was looking for a photographer to collaborate with whilst visiting Belfast with Krokodoko.

With Petite being from New York City, BoundBoar originally from Germany and my own humble origins of a small market town in County Tyrone, it was quite the international collaboration…

As soon as I heard they wanted to shoot in a church, I was in.

The first time these two had tied together {which i only found out later} was amazing to witness. Petite Pretzel’s skill with the rope matched only by the speed at which she worked. And the stamina and endurance of BoundBoar would put any athlete to shame. Simply incredible experience to be part of.

The concept for the shoot was inspired mostly by the location itself. Based in a converted church, with bare decoration, we set out to explore the idea of a religious punishment with a timeless feel. Whilst the church itself is not medieval built it served as a perfect background for the feel of the shoot, an acolyte, punished and abandoned by the church, for, who knows what sin?

I shot the most varied selection I could, a range of closeups, to get the amazing expressions on BoundBoar’s face, mid distance to capture the tie itself as well as shot as wide as I could in other instances to show the scale and emptiness of the gorgeous location and to convey the feeling of abandonment.

Petite Pretzel is a shibari artist from NYC, teaching at Anatomie Studio London since 2019. She performs live at London nightlife events and British festivals, and has presented shibari abroad in 14 countries.

Her commercial credits include music videos (Charli XCX, Christine + the Queens), fashion shoots (Sir Nick Knight), art galleries and full-length film.

In 2025, she began recording video tutorials for ShibariStudy.com. She plans to open E13 Playhouse, a new rope venue in London, in July 2026.

BoundBoar, now living in Dublin, started his Shibari Journey in Manila (Philippines) where he co founded the ‘Good Boy’ all-male Rope Jams as well as a number of performances to bring Shibari to a larger audience in a predominantly conservative country.

As a gay Rigger he focuses mainly on male bodies in rope, ‘bears and otters’ and the challenges that come with it.

Adam Robert Moon is a photographer from Northern Ireland, currently based in Belfast, these days most invested in constructing atmospheric scenes from scratch, telling stories inspired by history with a modern visual flair featuring characters and rich drama.

Adam also has shot numerous shibari scenes with local Belfast Kinbaku Dojo and visiting riggers and models.
