Twenty Seconds is Better than an Hour

一時間よりも二十秒間

Well, this person named “Mika Suzume” truly understands what I write and say so well. I’m always amazed by the accuracy and depth of her comprehension. I’m left speechless by her sharpness of expression, a skill I myself lack. Her brilliance is so overwhelming that sometimes I feel like I might faint.

The only people who grasp the behavioral patterns and psychological analysis of today’s “SM related individuals” with greater precision than I do, and express it so clearly, are firstly, The Sex Industry Museum’s Nakahara Rutsu, R-san, the veteran SM actress Uzuki Sayo, and then Rakka-san, along with Mika Suzume, who possesses truly outstanding writing skills.

Of course, there are also many bondage enthusiasts who cannot be named.

(I can tell by how my books sell and how Kinbiken videos sell.)

In her feedback to me this time, Mika Suzume wrote, “---Your “bondage technique,” if I may dare to use the word “technique,” is a safe form of binding that even an ordinary woman without masochistic tendencies could endure.”

That’s right. That’s exactly it, Mika-san.

“Safe bondage,” that’s precisely it.

My so-called “bondage technique” was developed over forty years ago when I took on the editing of a magazine called “Uramado.”

The models back then were precisely ordinary nude models, none of whom had masochistic tendencies. Therefore, it was a “bondage” that even such women could endure.

I’m now writing about this time, from a different angle and perspective, in Fuji Planning’s blog “Nureki Chimuo’s Secret Bondage Diary,” referencing the white cotton rope I used back then.

In other words, I’m confessing to how I gently, almost deceitfully, bound the models with soft cotton rope and photographed them.

The term, “beauty of bondage” is, in a way, just another form of deception.

“It’s no exaggeration to say that bondage techniques flooding the streets today are merely adaptations of the Sensei’s ‘bondage techniques.’ This method of binding, which boasts an overwhelming share in the ‘bondage’ genre, is essentially the Nureki-ryu system.”

Mika Suzume-san writes this, but the reality is that my binding style holds an overwhelming share. Just the other day, I witnessed such practitioners at work with my own eyes and was astonished. I truly realized that their rope style is nothing more than a crude arrangement of the “Nureki-ryu.”

(I was truly shocked then, and it left me feeling utterly disgusted…)

And then, deeply and profoundly, I became acutely aware of the depth of my own sin (wry smile).

With a clumsy arrangement of the Nureki-ryu, no matter how much the masochistic model rolls their eyes, snorts snot, and cries in agony, it simply cannot be sold as a product.

Genuine bondage enthusiasts aren’t that foolish.

But you see, Mika-san, when we carelessly say things like “SM has become too safe, losing the tension that SM inherently possesses,” it can lead to some serious misunderstandings.

“Oh, I see. So SM shouldn’t be safe? It needs that tension?”

Some SM directors nod along, then proceed to hang people upside down, deliberately try to drop them, or insist on performing recklessly dangerous “torture” acts.

Forcing anxiety, pain, fear, and exhaustion onto models, then commodifying it, “How about that? Pretty amazing, huh? This is real SM!”

And then there are people who proudly puff out their chests and boast about it.

Let me give you an example.

There was a video director who, without any warning or prior discussion, suddenly shoved a model I had bound with their hands tied behind their back into a pool filled with water.

The model couldn’t swim to begin with, and with her hands bound, she genuinely screamed in terror, crying out as she struggled to stay afloat.

She was rescued after about ten seconds, but it took a long time for her to regain her composure.

I was furious and got into a fight with the director.

“What if she had a heart attack from the shock?”

Even so, that director was quite pleased with himself and said, “I got some great expressions. If there’s no danger, it’s not SM. This is the real deal.”

People like this exist in the SM industry.

I try my best to avoid associating with such people.

However, various obligations sometimes force me to go to such sets.

But once my task is done, I leave promptly.

I never discuss bondage or SM with people like that.

Mika Suzume-san uses skillful and precise expressions.

“I don’t get excited without the act of ‘bullying,’ but even if the act of ‘bullying’ is real, I don’t get excited.”

“For SM enthusiasts (at least for me), ‘bullying’ must not exist, yet must also not be absent.”

The expression “must not exist, yet must also not be absent” is something enthusiasts can readily understand. That’s exactly right.

I would not call someone who fails to grasp this rhetoric an enthusiast.

“I (Mika Suzume) find the appeal of SM precisely on that fine line between genuine torment and fake torment. It’s contradictory, genuine torment is unacceptable, yet fake torment is also unacceptable. But I believe that’s the true form of realistic SM play that’s permissible while maintaining a social life.”

I completely agree with Mika Suzume’s words.

This applies not only to personal play, but also to SM videos and photographic expressions using models.

Mika Suzume writes that the appeal of SM lies on this fine line between real torment and fake torment. I say that the exquisite pleasure of SM lies on this fine line. Of course, it’s the same thing.

Rather than a line, it might be easier to understand as the thin wire of a tightrope walker’s acrobatic act.

Well, either way, it’s an extremely delicate sensation.

Fake torment is no good, but real torment is even worse.

It’s a delicate pleasure, so for those with only coarse nerves, it’s ultimately a sensual world they cannot understand or savor.

So really, it’s best not to expect those who won’t understand to ever get it.

It’s better to just give up.

Those people have their own neatly packaged “common sense” concept of SM. They can’t step even one inch outside that tiny, rigid box that fits perfectly in the palm of their hand.

“Common sense,” of course, is my utmost sarcasm.

Our SM and bondage exist perpetually on a thin, delicate rope, swaying ever so slightly. It’s a sensation so subtle that ordinary people can’t perceive it, yet it’s actually a pleasure zone as boundless as the universe.

A uniquely sensual world, vast and deep, where the bones of your limbs melt and your very marrow tingles.

But is describing it as “universe-like” in its vastness an exaggeration?

Then let me rephrase it.

The sensation of being able to feel lust as fresh and vibrant as a teenager even at eighty, and to immerse yourself deeply and passionately in pleasures that sometimes feel almost mystical.

That is bondage in the world of SM.

Since I, now eighty years old, experience and my testament to this personally, it must be true.

“In recent adult videos, there are scenes where the M role actress is so genuinely intoxicated she even has snot dripping from her nose, but I don’t really want to see that kind of footage,” writes Mika Suzume.

Mika Suzume refers to it as “AV footage” rather than “SM footage.”

That’s right.

No matter how much the producers label it “SM,” when we’re shown those kinds of “M women,” we can’t help but think of it as “AV.”

Not just Mika Suzume, but most bondage enthusiasts probably don’t want to see this kind of AV footage anymore.

(Though I did find it rare and interesting at one point…)

And I, too, don’t really want to see them anymore. Watching them doesn’t move me, it just leaves me feeling cold.

Since we’re on the subject, let me state this clearly.

No matter how much the producers promote it as “SM footage,” the reason it doesn’t sell well as a product is because it isn’t real “SM.”

Footage of models labeled “masochistic women” who spread their legs willingly, without any resistance or shame, greedily seeking and reveling in pleasure, it’s ultimately just a variation of the “adult videos” flooding the market and making us sick of them.

No matter how acrobatically or bizarrely you bind and suspend the model, if it lacks the essence and allure of “SM,” it won’t stir the hearts of true enthusiasts.

We have no intention of spending money on products that offer neither emotion nor excitement.

“The baseness of women who cast aside all pride and shame, roll their eyes back, and drown in their own pleasure,” writes Mika Suzume. And in this passage, the expression “baseness” here really got to me..

Yes, that’s it, it’s that “baseness.”

The moment my strength suddenly drains away on set is when I encounter the expressions and bodies of these women who call themselves M, their shamelessly arrogant, utterly defenseless forms, devouring pleasure without restraint.

When I’m shown the M women’s figures, which are nothing but “baseness,” the hidden eroticism of SM bondage vanishes pitifully. They become ordinary women, intoxicated by just another “sexual technique” as they surrender themselves to a man’s caress.

And the troubling thing is, we are a breed that finds no interest in ordinary women.

Mika Suzume-san.

When Kinbiken restarted, you said that you could no longer experience the “three-minute” bondage I intended to perform, because you no longer possessed the physical strength or flexibility to endure it.

That’s not true.

As I wrote before, “three minutes” is merely a guideline.

Or perhaps, a metaphor.

Two minutes, even one minute. If you couldn’t endure that, then thirty seconds would be fine too.

If you couldn’t bear the rope’s tightness and after twenty seconds, and you said, “Ah, I can’t take it anymore, please let me go,” I would immediately untie you.

(Yes, my ropes involve intense torment, but it’s not bullying.)

Your body’s reaction during those twenty seconds should be more intense and captivating than footage of an “M woman” gasping and writhing for an hour, spread-eagle with a vibrator forced inside her.

And it should excite and move the enthusiasts watching it.

No matter how agonizing those twenty seconds may be, what remains in your mind and body should ultimately be pleasure.

Because what I aim for, in any case, is ultimately a sensual world of mutual pleasure.

If there is no deep and certain pleasure for the other person, then I too have no deep and certain joy or pleasure.

In past Kinbiken videos, to protect personal privacy, we didn’t clearly film faces, meaning expressions.

What we filmed was solely the body’s genuine reactions to the ropes.

Even without clearly showing the model’s face, we resonated with many bondage enthusiasts and sold many copies.

Claiming that bondage material won’t sell unless the model is beautiful, or that SM material won’t sell unless the girl is beautiful, and then applying overly generic makeup to achieve this, is the height of foolishness that disregards the hearts of enthusiasts.

Oh, right, I just remembered.

Kujo Mikage-san, if you happen to see this message, please give me a call.

(I don’t have a computer or cell phone, so please call my landline at home.)

Or contact Yuri Sunohara.

While writing my reply to Mika Suzume, I suddenly felt an urge to tie you up.

Ahh, I’ve gone off on a tangent again.

This time, I had intended to return once more to the era of the Tsurukame Theater.

Yet here I am, writing about how twenty seconds of intense bondage excites and arouses enthusiasts more than an hour-long video of an M woman spreading her legs.

(I wanted to write it, so what can I do?)

New, stimulating scenes keep appearing before my eyes and around me every day, leaving me no time to write about the past.

But R-san always tells me I have to write about it. Because that era is what made me who I am today, she says.
