Farewell, Loose Bonds

緩縛(かんばく)よ、さらば

I will set aside the farce for now and write a little about when I was hired as a rigger on another company’s film set.

Truthfully, I’ve wanted to write about this for some time, but never had the chance.

By coincidence, I got a call from Yuri Sunohara at Fuji Planning, asking, “We’d like to revive the gatherings at Kinbiken. What do you think, Sensei?”

I felt passion in the tone of that inquiry.

I replied, “Let’s do it!”

If I didn’t feel passion in this kind of niche gathering, it would be worthless, and I wouldn’t feel motivated to participate.

It requires passion beyond the ordinary. Passion that, you could say, carries a whiff of madness.

Common-sense passion just isn’t enough.

We’re not talking about doing ordinary, commonplace things, so unless I sense passion that transcends the ordinary, it’s no good.

I lost motivation for the previous Kinbiken because I stopped sensing passion in the staff.

If everyone present doesn’t have that gut-burning passion, that gut-twisting excitement, or even lust, that kind of surging, pallid heat, my ropes won’t come alive.

Some scenes have staff who completely fail to grasp SM, merely moving limbs without passion or emotion, simply obeying the leader’s commands.

Some shoots even have staff who cast cold, indifferent glances at what I do (that is, the act of binding the female model), let alone show any passion.

(You might think it’s a lie, but it’s true. I don’t speak to such people on set. I ignore them and do the work assigned to me. They just say “Yes, sir” and obey whatever they’re told.)

No, I wasn’t supposed to be writing about this now. I’ve gone off on a tangent again.

Let’s hurry on.

If we were to revive the Kinbiken gatherings, I intend to show the bondage enthusiasts who attend such intense restraints that the model can barely endure for three minutes.

It’s a powerful style of binding that can only be sustained for three minutes at most.

In other words, I want to do true bondage.

Even though I say intense restraints, I won’t do acrobatic things like rolling her around in shrimp-like bondage or hanging her upside down.

It’s the usual, natural pose, just the shape of a very ordinary hands-behind-the-back binding (or takate kote). But I want to try a binding so severe that within three minutes the model cries out, pleading with a tearful voice, “I can’t take this anymore, please untie me.”

This isn’t loose binding for the sake of photography. It’s binding designed to be savored, to fully appreciate the expression and form of a woman writhing under the rope’s tension.

That is the true bondage I strive for.

The three minutes is merely my benchmark. It’s the standard.

Depending on the model, she might scream and beg for mercy within a minute, or even within thirty seconds of being bound. Regardless, I want to try tying her as tightly as possible, right at her limit.

The true beauty and eroticism of a bound woman’s masochism only reveals itself with this kind of rope.

A masochistic woman who craves tight bondage will writhe and writhe in my ropes, moaning and crying, enduring while writhing, releasing an intense emotion I’ve never seen before. An unexpected pleasure born of pain.

If we’re going to revive the Kinbiken gatherings, we must do this. Otherwise, there’s no point in reviving them.

The era of superficial bondage is over at Kinbiken.

My heart is now filled with the desire to perform uncompromising, soul-infused bondage.

That said, this isn’t a rejection of past Kinbiken videos.

At Kinbiken, we have always practiced quite severe, rigorous bondage.

I can say that with confidence. That’s why it gained the support of many enthusiasts and sold well as a product.

In Kinbiken videos, we never have women pose in ways that expose their genitals (I have neither the inclination nor the desire for such concepts).

Much less do we ever perform the kind of “torture” that involves forcing vibrators or other foreign objects into genitals, the kind of thing that, when you think about it, isn’t even particularly masochistic. It’s just the kind of thing anyone might think of as normal “punishment.”

We only use rope (that’s why we’re enthusiasts).

We have regarded using tools other than rope to torment the female body as “shameful” (that’s why we’re perverts. That’s why we’re abnormal).

However, only whips and small tools for nostril torture are occasionally used at the request of the M woman.

On other companies’ “SM Video” sets, you can’t perform such severe bondage that makes the model scream within two or three minutes.

Ideally, once the model is bound behind their back just before shooting begins, they should be able to endure it for an hour or two without the ropes loosening.

The binding must be done in a way that both the model and the ropes holding them can endure the entire time the camera is rolling.

This is because, after binding her, we must have the actress or model perform various actions, strike poses, insert phallic vibrators or other objects into her exposed lower body, and ultimately film extended scenes of her interacting with the male actor.

Therefore, the binding inevitably becomes merely symbolic.

It must look authentic, with ropes tightly bound without gaps, but in reality, it’s merely a binding for the sake of filming.

It is pretentiously called “the beauty of tight bondage,” but in truth, calling it tight bondage is presumptuous. It is not tight bondage, but rather loose bondage for filming.

Looking back, I have called this loose bondage “tight bondage” and have bound over five thousand models and actresses over the past fifty years.

If it were real tight bondage, they wouldn’t last two or three minutes. They couldn’t endure it.

I’ll repeat myself, but in an SM video, the punishment scene is usually the climax, so it can’t possibly end in two or three minutes.

I devised and perfected fifty different ways to tie models so they could endure for an hour while bound.

From those fifty types, I further refined and varied them, ultimately demonstrating about three hundred distinct binding techniques.

I explained and serialized “Nureki Chimou’s Rope Techniques” in various magazines, complete with photographs.

Videos demonstrating these techniques were also produced, given countless titles, and distributed as commercial products.

I repeat once more.

People who have seen these videos, labelled as “bondage” but actually featuring loose binding, are now holding workshops on rope techniques all over the place.

That’s fine. If they are satisfied with that, then that’s perfectly acceptable. I have no reason to criticize them.

I have always considered my own “tight bondage” to be “loose bondage.”

This confession stems solely from that persistent sense of shame that refuses to leave my heart.

Yuri Sunohara’s passion has borne fruit. As the gathering of true bondage enthusiasts has progressed, and Kinbiken videos are set to resume, this is the moment I intend to show my comrades true bondage, not loose restraints.

Before the new members, I bound the female model with all my strength and spirit.

My ropes were intense from the very start.

I held nothing back. This was true bondage.

She tensed up and turned pale.

(This isn’t like those loose ties for filming, with gaps between the skin and rope, she realized.)

I can almost hear the members’ hearts stir in awe at the power of my ropes.

I was showing the real “bondage” to my comrades, who had grown tired of seeing only “loose binding.”

Yes, I must make this clear here.

No matter how authentic the bondage, the fundamental way the ropes are applied is still the form of “beautiful bondage.”

I cannot stray from the form of bondage beauty that inevitably arises from my own aesthetic sense.

However, what came before was, you might say, merely “loose binding beauty.”

At the New Bondage Beauty Research Group (Kinbiken), I shall present you with the literal “tight binding beauty,” focused with my true desire.

I will bind the model seated before me, hands behind their back, with a single rope, tightening it with force, pulling it taut.

(I love the sight of a woman bound with hands behind her back with a single rope. The more ropes there are, the more my passion seems to wane.)

Then, I tell her, “It must be painful, but please endure it for just three minutes. After three minutes, I’ll untie you immediately.” She nods.

Please imagine the pitiable sight of a woman seated upright in seiza, her wrists bound high and tightly behind her back with a single rope, silently nodding in response to my words.

Just imagining it will likely make some part of your insides tingle and ache with desire.

If you feel no tingling anywhere and feel no arousal, you are not a bondage enthusiast.

I make a request to the members surrounding us, cameras at the ready.

“Please film for three minutes. The ropes are this tight. If I don’t untie her soon, she’ll pass out. I’ll untie her after three minutes.” I step away from her.

Ah, the expression of pain endured by this woman, tightly bound behind her back, during these three minutes, the sensuality of her shoulders shaking, her writhing and trembling form.

Soon, her seiza posture collapses, and her body falls away.

Her hips writhe painfully and strangely, her chest heaving with agonizing breaths.

The eroticism of a single rope.

Three minutes seems short, but it’s actually quite long.

The members sigh with excitement and emotion, frantically pressing their camera shutters.

The heat of the men’s bodies and the sound of shutters drown the woman’s mind, already writhing in the pain of ropes digging into her skin, in even more bewitching, sometimes sweet waves of masochism.

Before three minutes had even passed, I untied the ropes of the woman who cried out, “I can’t take it anymore, I can’t endure it!”

I untied the ropes that had dug into her skin as if peeling them away.

After giving her a brief respite, I bind her hands behind her back once more. This time, I tie her more tightly than before, binding her with all my intent.

When three minutes pass, I release her once more.

The rope marks are etched sharply into her skin.

After five or ten minutes of rest, I bind her hands behind her back again. I show no mercy.

I repeat the binding over and over. Rope marks pile upon rope marks.

What happens after repeating this ten times?

Even I don’t know.

I’ve never done it before, so I don’t know.

What I do know is that an intense, fierce, and profoundly erotic bondage experience, one I’ve never seen or experienced before, will emerge.

Yes, let me write this clearly here and now.

For us enthusiasts, the eroticism of forcing her to writhe with a vibrator thrust into her crotch is fundamentally different from the eroticism of making her writhe using only rope.

At first glance, they might seem similar, but they are fundamentally different.

No matter how pleasurable a woman looks as she gasps with her legs spread and a vibrator twisted inside her, a bondage enthusiast won’t get excited.

But, seeing a woman writhing in agony, bound by ropes, arouses the enthusiast.

Even if the woman isn’t naked with legs spread, even if nothing is forcibly inserted into her genitals to make her writhe, if the rope has realism and the binding has intensity, we enthusiasts get aroused and become hopelessly lustful.

How many times have I pleaded this truth about the enthusiast’s desire to the heads of companies producing and selling SM-related publications and video products, and to the people working under them?

But, they wouldn’t listen.

“Yeah, yeah, we know that,” they’d say, “we’re not amateurs, after all,” but in the end, they just didn’t get it.

Come to think of it, it’s only natural they didn’t understand.

Because no matter how much they put on an air of being enthusiasts, they weren’t enthusiasts at their core.

(Oh, how many times have I uttered or written such complaints? Especially whenever I heard them lament, “SM doesn’t sell anymore. You just can’t make money unless you target normal sex,” I insisted that if it were the real thing, it would absolutely be profitable.)

And so, for reasons like that, I decided to accept Yuri Sunohara’s invitation this time.

I have no choice but to do it myself.

The details haven’t been finalized yet, but if any women out there wish to experience the bondage of Nureki Chimuo, who has broken away from soft bondage, please contact Yuri Sunowara at Fuji Planning.

That is my honest sentiment, which I felt compelled to share even as I’m halfway through this “charade.”

Writing this down serves to record my current state of mind.

It proves my desire. Even while writing about events from sixty years ago, my heart always looks forward, seeking new adventures and pleasures.

(Whoever says it’s the lust of an old man is wrong!)

It is also proof that a seemingly trivial act like bondage, using just a single rope, can bring such obsessive, intense, and enduring pleasure.

Mika Suzume-san’s Comment *Thoughts on the 74th Talking Theater* February 3, 2009 16:39

Sensei, it’s Mika

I’ve just finished writing my thoughts on the 73rd “The Age of Famine for Bondage Photography.”

After pouring out all my feelings about SM to you for the first time in ages, I feel wonderfully refreshed.

In that mood, I returned to the cover of “Talking Theater” once more, only to find, “Oh? The 74th installment of ‘Talking Theater’ has already been written!”

So I promptly read the 74th installment and thought, “Oh! I see…. Yes, the Sensei feels that way too,” feeling a new sense of shared understanding.

Perhaps I, who reacts to everything in SM you write like this, possess a certain baseness, like those M women who “cast aside all pride and shame, roll their eyes back, and shamelessly drown in their own pleasure.”

I have some experience playing.

Compared to the average person, I’ve had quite a bit.

But I rarely find others who share my feelings about SM like this.

So, however shallow it may seem, I want to write that I feel a deep resonance with what you’ve said.

“It’s a binding technique so forceful she can only endure it for three minutes at most. In other words, she wants to experience true bondage.”

From what I gather, this is “bondage” that doesn’t stray from the principles of capture techniques, isn’t it?

You’re seeking a binding method that only an M could find pleasurable, aren’t you?

Your “bondage technique,” if I may dare to use the word “technique,” is a safe form of binding that even an ordinary woman without masochistic tendencies could endure.

And that is also the binding of SM today.

In my view, it’s no exaggeration to say that the bondage flooding the streets today is merely an arrangement of your “bondage techniques.”

It’s a binding method that boasts an overwhelming share in the “bondage” genre, a technical system that could be called the Nureki-ryu style.

However, I understand that this “new” Kinbiken involves not the Nureki style, but capture-style ropes that can truly restrain, meaning it’s done without reducing the burden on the wrists or arms.

Sensei, this is perverted (please take that as a compliment).

I suspect few enthusiasts would be able to discern that.

Those who consider Nureki-style bondage the real deal might not understand why it doesn’t last even three minutes.

But I understand your intentions, Sensei.

SM has become too safe, losing the tension inherent to it.

So, when the M approaches it half-heartedly, it becomes utterly ridiculous. I imagine you wanted to revive that kind of genuine, true restraint.

I no longer possess the physical strength or flexibility to endure such SM. I want to experience what that rope feels like, but I simply can’t.

I’ve given up on receiving it as an M, knowing I’d only cause trouble by suffering nerve damage like median nerve palsy, ulnar nerve palsy, or radial nerve palsy. But I do want to see it.

How would rope with the limiter removed affect an M?

The answer to the current stagnation in SM can be seen at Kinbiken. I truly wish to witness that.

I would like to participate as one of the Kinbiken audience members.

Of course, that’s assuming it’s possible…

If it’s something I can participate in, please let me know. I’d be thrilled and delighted to join.

Thank you, Mika Suzume-san Please feel free to share your thoughts and impressions after reading.
