Luxurious Rope Patterns
From now on, everything I write will be pure fantasy and imagination. Needless to say, I am a rather “imaginative pleasure-seeker.” So, Dr. Itatsu, please don’t get angry. Please don’t get upset. Please. Compared to you, Doctor, (though comparison is fundamentally wrong) I am utterly insignificant, a worthless human being wriggling like a cockroach in some corner of the normal world. I’m a man, hired as a female bondage specialist on the production sets of SM magazines and SM videos, gathering enough money together for the day to get by. The doctor is a medical doctor who holds a high position and honor in society. Please don’t take what I’m about to say seriously. Please forgive me with a smile. Why do I feel such intense eroticism from these photographs of the “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” created by the doctor; where breasts aren’t exposed, crotches aren’t shown, and the ropes are loose? So, this time I’ll get into the main topic. Why these sixty photos are so stimulating is that, while the girl being bound is obviously filled with shame (it’s immediately clear from her expression that she’s not a professional model. Her raw, unfiltered expression shows she’s being tied for the first time and photographed) yet I also see shame in the rope by the doctor who did the tying. Honestly, it makes me smile to see how shy the doctor is. Let me write down the words the doctor says as he grips the rope and binds her, like lines in a play. (I actually wrote play scripts as well. I also directed the scripts. This is not amateur theater, but plays performed in Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro and other busy places. Therefore, scenes like this are easier to write as stage dialogue, and it reflects my own mood.) The doctor is the one who’s nervous, and his voice is trembling a little. 2007.08.17
“Hey, it won’t hurt, okay? It will be fine, I’m not really tying you up. It’s just to show the form. This is for a very important historical document that will be preserved for future generations, so you don’t need to be nervous. Relax your body… ease into it, see? It doesn’t hurt, does it? It won’t hurt at all, right? I’m not really tying you up, you know. It’s just for show. It’s rope to make the tying techniques easier to explain….” And, that’s how it goes. Though he said so, his chest was already pounding. After all, I can finally get my hands on an adorable, pure girl and persuade her to come with me, take her to a private room, just the two of us, and tie her up. The doctor couldn’t have been happier. His heart was full of joy. But, he can’t let it show on his face. (If I make a joyful face now, it will surely turn into the face of a vulgar, lecherous man, making this girl feel disgusted and cautious. Here, I harden my resolve, give it my all, and keep a serious face….) Then, he put on an even more serious expression. “Hmm, yes, I see. So this rope is wrapped like this, from the wrist to the arm and around the chest? I see, that’s difficult. Even for those who are guilty of crimes, the people of old were amazing in their aesthetic sensibility, taking such care to bind them in ropes with such intricate patterns. I suppose they had more peace of mind back then. Currently, just closing metal handcuffs around wrists with a clank, it’s too functional, utterly lacking in emotion.” While speaking, he slowly and carefully tied the rope, his movements slightly unsteady as he glanced at the old “secret manual” placed nearby. That’s right, the ancient “secret manual.” If such a thing really exists, I want to see it. I sincerely want to see it. Given the nature of its contents, that “secret manual” is probably filled with more drawings than text. The illustrations certainly show everything from the rope-tying steps, to the shape of each part, and the finished design. Even if that illustration is crude, or obscure, or partially faded, I want to see it. And, (I’ll say this quietly) I want to experiment with models while looking at that old illustration. Rather than the photograph taken by the doctor, I would prefer to explore the binding technique known as “ancient techniques” by looking at the original illustration. However, the doctor does not explain these important illustrations in this book at all. Why is that? Without the illustrations in that old “secret manual,” the doctor should not have
been able to bind her with ropes, so its existence must be certain. However, I shall refrain from discussing this matter for now. Now, I will focus my interest on her feelings as she becomes bound and the doctor’s state of mind as he ties her. “This Takasu-ryu Evil Monk Rope is especially messy, there are so many ropes tangled up, it’s really difficult. It’s hard to tell just by looking at what is going on. Since it’s named Evil Monk Rope, it must be meant for tying monks who have done bad things. But why would they need such a complex, elaborate pattern for tying such bad people? Ah, so here I have to loop the rope from the back under the armpit again and wrap it around the front of the chest. This is tricky. …..Oh, sorry, I touched it. But I didn’t do it on purpose, so please forgive me.” By “touched,” I mean that while tying her, I ended up touching the curve of her breast. I don’t know if he actually said anything like that. This tendency to make assumptions on my own is a vulgar part of my character. In other words, one of my “delights of fantasy.” If in any way I have offended you, please forgive me. But, in reality, I’ll probably end up touching her breasts (through her kimono, of course). Even if I don’t want to touch them, while tying the rope, I’ll inevitably brush against them. Even if I don’t want to touch them, I end up touching them while tying the rope. It cannot be helped. If you hold back and worry about other’s feelings, you won’t be able to tie them up. As a professional bondage specialist I can assure you this is the case. Not only this “Evil Monk Rope,” but all sixty photographs depict incredibly intricate binding methods, featuring complex ropes crisscrossing vertically, horizontally and diagonally. These seemingly pointless rope patterns, unrelated to binding limbs, are so amusing that I can’t help but feel like laughing. That means a lot of rope is being used. Or perhaps a single rope that is very long. It certainly would seem difficult to tie with. As for me, Nureki Chimuo, the most stimulating, beautiful, and exciting form is to take a 7 meter rope, folding it in half to make a single 3.5 meter rope, then bind the woman’s hands behind her back, raising them high near her shoulders and crossing them, sending one strand around her chest and tying it tightly. However, this “old style” uses an excessive amount of rope. Call it extravagant, for it is extravagant. Call it a “hobby,” for it is a hobby. Looking at the photos, it seems to me as an extremely luxurious hobby for someone like me who is into rope play.
(Perhaps it is simply the doctor’s preference. In other words, the doctor prefers using more ropes. So, even among ancient methods, he chose complex bondage involving many ropes for “experimentation” and created these new reference photos, I thought to myself.) The time it takes for me to bind a woman’s body with one rope, hands behind her back in a takate kote11 , is at most about 20 seconds. But looking at the doctor’s photos, for example, the “Ichidatsu-ryu Makikou” style, it seems like it would take over 30 minutes with a single, long rope. In other words, for thirty minutes, you are touching her body. (What a vulgar expression, Doctor. I am sorry.) As for me, if I were handed a long, single rope, “Tie this photo ‘Higashi-ryū Komuso Rope’ exactly as shown,” if I were told to do it, I would probably spend 30 minutes trying different approaches and figuring things out. (Alright, I’ll ask Rakka-san to try out these “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” next time. Even if I tie it perfectly, I know I won’t be allowed to take a picture, so I’ll burn it into my eyes.) Since she doesn’t allow photos, I’ll at least report on the situation through writing on my website. Takate kote, while we often associate this with a “box tie” today, generically means to have one’s hands tied behind their back.
