Amazing Photographs
Continuing from last time, I will transcribe the names of the techniques that appear in Dr. Yasuhiko Itatsu’s book “Yorikiri, Doshin, Jitte Torinawa.” In this 370 page volume, the section on “Traditional Rope Tying Techniques” is twenty-seven pages, presented with sixty distinct forms with photographs. (The model is wearing white clothes.) It is believed that Dr. Itatsu took these photographs himself. I have already written down the names of the first thirty types. This time, I will write the names of the next thirty types in the same manner. I know that many bondage fans who find joy in the mere sight of the characters used to name these “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” techniques, as they inspire all manner of fantasies and dreams that spread and grow. I perfectly understand that feeling fans have, where just seeing names or characters can spark an endless expanse of imagination. That’s what you call the heart and soul of a true enthusiast. Instead of being shown hundreds, or even thousands, of pristine bondage photographs devoid of an enthusiast’s soul, a single line or a few words can sometimes allow an enthusiast’s imagination to expand richly, freely, endlessly, and happily in whatever way they please. I sincerely hope that those involved in editing SM magazines will understand this truth. I hope you understand that we enthusiasts possess an enthusiast’s heart. Ah, I’ve gone and written something unnecessary again. I fear I’m too talkative. But since this is “The Talking Theater” I suppose this is fine. Now, the last half of the “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” techniques, the names of the thirty techniques.

you read this? Such a difficult character9 . R-san, please look this character up when you have time, it has the “hand” radical and the character for “difficult” so I kind of get the meaning. The character referenced, 攤, appears in the Hyogai kanji; that is, it appears outside of the Joyo kanji, which is the common list of kanji taught in Japan. The kanji can mean “open,” “broaden,” or "appropriation.”

This must be a method of binding a woman who has committed arson. The rope tied around the woman’s chest, like a pointless decoration, is it meant to be a flame? Strange. It’s far too imaginative. Strange, but interesting.

Kikko.10 That’s it. There are sixty black and white photographs included. Each page holds four photos, so they aren’t very large. They’re smaller than a standard business card. However, the pictures are amazing. They make me feel. They get me all worked up. Even though they’re amazing, it doesn’t mean her breasts are exposed. It’s not as if her crotch is exposed. As I mentioned before, the woman is wearing a white kimono that appears to be made in the fashion of a prison garb. This kimono is also oversized, giving it a baggy feeling. As a result, very little skin is exposed. It’s not as if there’s any particularly intense or cruel rope tied around it. Instead, the rope is loose and slack, a sloppy and absent-minded bind with little tension. Because these bondage photos weren’t intended to express any strong restraint or cruelty in the first place, it’s only natural that they’re loose. One by one, each rope, this photograph reveals the meticulous care and intense focus devoted to the way they are tied, and the form they express. It really shouldn’t be called The names of the hojojutsu ties are quite interesting, and while I do not have the reference photos handy, the exploration of the names definitely can tickle an imaginative mind. I will include the original characters in the blog in an appendix at the end of the overall translation for those interested. The names almost certainly stem from archaic Japanese and will not be found in modern dictionaries
“bondage photography.” The photographs document the rope tying techniques of “koshiki hojojutsu” as reference material for posterity. Why do these photos, which essentially are just “serious” restraints, arouse me so much? It is because Dr. Itatsu ties women with such love and care, putting his whole heart into it. She’s a lovely young lady with big, round eyes. Above all, it has a fresh and innocent atmosphere. I can see the doctor’s expression and posture as he ties her up. The young lady, unable to understand why the doctor of medicine would bind her body with such fervent passion. She is restrained, sometimes with an anxious look, revealing sometimes a faint hesitation and fear, and sometimes her expression is dazed. That expression on her face is irresistible. An expression that reveals not a shred of acting, raw and unfiltered, and if I may say so, an expression of masochism. She wore a simple Japanese hairstyle, adorned with combs and hairpins, even with cotton padding in her hair. In this photo, she is clearly wearing a colored kimono, not a white one. Her obi is also properly tied. This means that this “capture technique” was photographed over several days, day after day. Changing hairstyles, changing costumes…. (Ahh, what an extravagant, pleasurable photoshoot!) To reiterate, Dr. Itatsu is a physician. Perusing the biography at the end of his book, it states he was born in Tokyo in 1937, worked in the Department of Internal Medicine at Keio University from 1963, and opened his practice in Meguro Ward, Tokyo in 1971. Therefore, the first publication of this manuscript was a serialized piece in the Japan Medical Journal and the Meguro Medical Association Bulletin. The woman, who served as a model for the “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” techniques for several days, with her endearingly fresh and innocent charm, might be a student at a medical school. Or, judging by her youth, she might be a trainee nurse at a hospital. Anyway, I can’t help but to imagine that kind of “relationship.” (A little stereotypical, maybe?) Setting up that kind of relationship, letting my imagination run wild, and then leaping into fantasy; that’s where my SM pleasures lie. At the request of a distinguished teacher to whom she owed a debt of gratitude, or perhaps after being persuaded persistently, she found herself unable to refuse. Thus, she became a model for this “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques,” a practice totally detached from her daily life and sensibilities, existing in a different world, so to say.
Dressing a young, innocent, and obedient girl in costumes, locking ourselves away in a private room, just us two (the photographer who took these pictures was likely the teacher as well…) savoring this pleasure for days on end, for dozens of hours…. A time and place full of bliss and secret pleasures. Even if I explained it to others, they would never understand. I just said that the photographer also played the role of the teacher, but that’s exactly it. Depending on how you look at it, this is a play performed by only the two of them. The girl plays the role of the “prisoner” charged with various crimes, while the teacher plays the role of the “official” who ties the prisoner with ropes and interrogates them, as well as playing the role of the photographer. A rich, intense performance, just for the two of them, in a theater with no audience… There are no seats for the audience here, but soon the audience will watch this “play.” Yes, the audience are the readers of this book, “Yoriki, Doshin, Jitte Torinawa.” And of course, I am part of the audience. I am a spectator who loves the “hearts” of these two actors more than anyone else. Ah, but still, the sixty photos I have here now, I wish I could show two or three of them to those of you reading my words. However, that isn’t possible. Photographs also have a copyright. Without getting permission from the doctor who took them, you cannot reprint it. But, I… Nureki Chimuo… someday, using this photo of Dr. Itatsu as a reference, I intend to recreate the “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” myself, binding her tightly in ropes. Currently, we are recruiting female models. I have a close friend named Ochibana, who will comply with any request I make. But, she is extremely shy, and the pleasure she feels from being tied is too intense for her to be a subject for photos. The instant I tied her up, she couldn’t stand or sit, and collapsed into a semi-conscious state. (You might think it’s a lie, but it’s true.) Thus, I cannot take the photos. I am looking for someone, who even when bound, will not faint, will face forward properly, and will cooperate as a model for the shoot. Do you think if I post something like this, in a place like this, a lot of women will apply and it will get out of hand? That’s not the case. There probably won’t be a reaction at all. So, my manager R-san, don’t worry, your workload won’t increase. First of all, I can’t really be that popular, am I?
Even though I know that, I’m writing this job posting to confirm it. This story of “Ancient Rope-Tying Techniques” continues. What came before was just the prologue. Now we get to the main event. Things are about to get interesting. Ahh, also, the bound collection of “Nureki Shinbun” I made previously is on display at the Sex Industry Museum at Iidabashi. The “amazing photos” in question area also briefly featured. However, they’re copies, so they’re blurry. That blurriness might actually be stimulating, hm?
