Undeterred, I Dream Again
Mizuki Kageo-sama.
I have received your communication to me via the Sex Industry Museum.
I understand you also visited the museum almost immediately after I did.
I’m glad to hear you are well.
I must explain a little more about why I caused you concern.
It concerns the discontinuation of “Secret Bondage Stories.”
Before starting that serial, I was quite enthusiastic, thinking this time I could finally fulfill my long-held dream. I wrote down all sorts of wishes in “Secret Bondage Stories.” But as you can see, in the end, the dream remains just a dream, and the project has now stalled.
I’ll refrain from detailing the reasons here, as it would be lengthy and potentially awkward. But actually, I’ve begun to envision a new dream.
(I’m a stubborn fool. I’m amazed at myself, but then again, my name is Nureki Chimuo. The word “Chimuo” carries the meaning of an unattainable dream. It also carries a somewhat self-deprecating implication; a foolish man who endlessly pursues an unattainable dream.)
As I mentioned last time, I’m currently serializing a piece titled “Nureki Chimuo’s Testament of Obscene Pleasure” on a site called Web Sniper.
(Mizuki-san, have you had a chance to read it?)
As detailed in that testament, my dream should now be fully realized.
By ordinary standards, this should be the height of good fortune.
The “real me,” not “Nureki Chimuo,” has achieved one hundred percent, no, two hundred percent, satisfaction, all thanks to Rakka-san.
Yet the blood of the artist who calls himself “Nureki Chimuo” simply won’t stay quiet.
It seems half the blood flowing through my veins is, by fate, that of an artist.
The day my desire to express myself fades and vanishes will be the day I die.
I still feel I can live a little longer.
So, as I mentioned briefly last time, let’s move on to the story of the male bondage enthusiast living in America (I assume he’s American, of course).
Driven by a desire to witness the bondage sessions of me, Nureki Chimuo, he will be visiting Japan in two months.
The story has suddenly taken on a sense of reality.
Explaining the entire sequence of events leading up to this point would be lengthy, so I’ll skip the details and get straight to the point.
This American, whom I’ll call K for now. The fact that K’s tastes and preferences regarding bondage are extremely close to mine is the biggest reason it made me dream again.
If K were just another simple lecher, like those commercial SM producers in some country, who immediately strip women naked, tie them up, spread their legs, and do something to them, I would, of course, refuse immediately.
But that’s not the case.
How do I know this? Because K has published his own shibari photo collection and, about a year ago, sent it to me via the Sex Industry Museum.
It appears to be a self-published work, meticulously curated solely from his personal preferences.
(This photo collection is also available at the Sex Industry Museum, Mizuki-san. Please take a look next time. It clearly shows K’s rope fetish.)
Inside, there are quite a few bondage photos reprinted from Japanese publications. It even features work by Itoh Seiu.
There are also bondage photos related to me, including some where I myself am pictured.
K and I exchanged a few letters.
Since I don’t understand foreign languages at all, an American woman living in Tokyo named A, acting as K’s representative, diligently and sincerely handled the translation and other tasks for our correspondence.
Both A and I were very busy and rarely had chances to meet, so Nakahara Rutsu-san, the museum director, always mediated for us.
I should mention that this visit to Japan by K is being made possible through the meticulous care and cooperation of this American woman, A.
In fact, it seems this A is also a woman with an unusual understanding and interest in Japanese bondage.
I haven’t asked A directly about this, so I don’t know for certain yet.
A seems to be a top-tier journalist affiliated with a well-known news agency, working on cultural exchange projects while traveling back and forth between the US and Japan. Talking with her, I sense considerable intelligence. I trust her.
Judging solely by the photo book K self-published, K’s interest remains solely in the rope itself, unmistakably in kinbaku, and in the emotion and passion emanating from the bound woman. It is precisely this aspect that makes K someone I feel I can call a comrade.
Now, this K has written me a passionate letter expressing a desire to see Nureki Chimuo’s rope, and is coming all the way from America.
What do you think?
For someone named "Unfulfilled Dream,” it seems inevitable that I’d seize this chance and dream again, despite my better judgement.
This time, I’ve assembled a reliable, solid team with sharp SM sensibilities and a forward-thinking attitude.
Responding to K’s earnest request, I intend to fully channel my energy, bind the model with my rope, and meticulously photograph and document the process.
I’ve enlisted Yamame Shizu as the photographer, a person with a delicate SM sensibility who captures sharp angles.
For the producer, I asked Director Nakahara. Rutsu-san constantly urges me on, always sternly shaking me awake when I start to slack off.
A will naturally serve as interpreter, ensuring K and I are closely connected in intent. Quick-witted and perceptive, she will be a tremendous asset to the staff. Above all, her deep understanding of SM is a major strength.
For the model, I currently plan to ask Sawato Fuyuki. We haven’t negotiated yet, but I sincerely hope she accepts.
For this shoot, I only need to bind the model for K, an American who shares my tastes.
Or perhaps K might also point the camera at the model at times, but the only people present on set will be the staff mentioned above.
K is coming all the way from America solely because he adores my rope bondage technique. This means I can use the ropes freely and uninhibitedly, without worrying about anyone else.
I intend to show him rope that surpasses even the bondage he desires. If we film this, I believe it will become a documentary quite different from anything before.
Frankly, I’m utterly bored with footage that merely explains rope techniques and binding procedures, with the model reacting and acting appropriately to those instructions.
If this shoot goes well, we’ll create even more interesting and stimulating footage with this group next time. Yesterday, we had a big discussion around the table at a family restaurant. Myself, Director Nakahara Rutsu, photographer Yamame Shizu, and Saotome Hiromi also participated.
The conversation rapidly escalated, and an unusual fervor rose from the four of us.
I really am a man chasing an unattainable dream, I thought deeply. It felt good, Mizuki Kageo-san.
Or perhaps, this plan of mine might also end up being just another dream.
Even if some reason arises and it gets canceled again, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to indulge in the pleasure of dreaming like this right now. What do you think?
